NEW! Barristers' Block Course
NEW! Barristers' Block Course
Dates: Tues 25 March - 15 April (4 weeks)
Tutor: Marion Haslam
Level - Intermediate
7.00-9.30pm
Learn how to sew a striking block patchwork quilt over 4 evenings. Using a quick sewing technique, you’ll improve your sewing accuracy at sewing 1/4-in seams! So, a great skill builder all round. This workshop is ideal for those who say “I have lots of fabric at home”. The quilt pattern is very frugal in its fabric requirements as nothing is wasted on the front or back. So it’s a perfect pattern for scrap quilters in all your favourite fabrics. Or, you can sew the quilt in shades and tones of one colour, say greens, or choose 2 contrasting colours eg red and blue.
There are two size options to sew, 58-in (147cm) or 42-in (107cm) square. We’ll discuss different quilt layouts and backing, so you can really make your quilt your own. By also sewing at home between classes, students can finish a large quilt top with ease and fast sewers may even get as far as quilting. Alternatively, you can finish your quilt at your own speed at home with the instructions provided.
*If you want to make the quilt larger still, that’s fine, but I’ll let you do the maths as you’re not a beginner quilter! This course is suitable for quilters who are confident sewing accurate seams and rotary cutting. Machine sewn.
Materials and equipment required:
Sewing Machine. Don’t forget the 1/4-in sewing foot and spare bobbins. Or you can hire a machine subject to availability

A square ruler (8-1/2 or larger) is useful for the later classes
